Gaia - In Principio [Armind] [2015]

    • Gaia - In Principio [Armind] [2015]

"During Ultra Miami last year, the mysterious duo Gaia performed for the very first time, finally giving a face to the elusive name. Well, not exactly... The hooded duo project have performed several times now in the their trademark, obscured outfits, keeping the mystery alive as to who, exactly the two performers are on stage. Ever the champions of what is lovingly referred to as the "classic" trance sound, Gaia are not afraid to push the tempo, employing slowly evolving textures and slight modulations to fully evoke the feeling of trance as it was originally meant to be: a state of mind. Making classic records since 2000, Gaia was indeed 'In Principio' -- at the forefront of the trance movement. Now they are back to where it all began, with a new release that will undoubtedly appeal to diehard fans and newcomers alike."

Meh, in addition to being a half different track than the one played at Ultra last year, it's also 05:25. -_- Still a decent track for me, but.... Dem disappointment.

I have to agree with the length part... I had strongly hoped it would have that epic intro from Ultra 2014 and that it would be at least 7 minutes long since that's a standard, Trance-friendly duration. Getting fed up with these Trouse lengths... ?( As for the production itself, the Ultra version was far deeper and less "mainstreamized" in a sense but I really like how they worked out the part from the breakdown onward. Solid enough for me to want to buy it but I hope they release an intro mix in the future, much like with Tuvan (though Tuvan's original was brill from the get go: just a shame they cut out the reprise from the original ASOT premiere/replay).

    • Piet & Benno should go crazy and make an 8:00 minute Rank 1's Deep Mix out of this. Imagine this at 136 BPM, with a My Enemy (Rank 1 Remix) style bouncy bassline, Down From The Deep vs. Ultra 2014 IP Version styled build-up and the main lead Symfofied....

A Mane can IMAGINE, right? :pardon:
